Tuition for the bachelor degree you take first — any degree qualifies. UPSC charges only a small application fee; optional coaching is a separate cost families should budget for deliberately.
Fees change every year and differ by college — confirm with the college before paying. Scholarships can cover much of this.
Who can apply
A completed degree in any discipline. Age 21 to 32 for the general category, with relaxation to 35 for OBC and 37 for SC/ST. Final-year students may sit the Prelims.
How to apply
Apply at upsc.gov.in. The exam has three stages: Prelims, Mains and Interview. General-category candidates get 6 attempts, OBC 9, and SC/ST unlimited within the age limit. Karnataka state services are recruited separately by KPSC.
